The Athlete Travel Subsidy Scheme and the Community Sporting Club Equipment Subsidy scheme are delivered by the Department of Sport and Recreation and funded by the State Government’s Royalties for Regions program.

‘It is great that this funding has been made available to assist eligible athletes with travel costs to compete at regional, state, national and international events and made available to sporting clubs needing new equipment,’ Dr Hames said.

Hockey goalkeeper Brittanny Macnab has been selected in the under-18s women’s indoor state hockey team.

The Athlete Travel Subsidy Scheme could assist her with up to $750 towards her travel costs to Brisbane this month.

‘Brittanny could also get an additional $150 in Regional Athlete Support if her application is successful,’ Dr Hames said.

‘Regional sporting clubs will also have the opportunity to access a one-off $500 subsidy to purchase or upgrade shared sporting equipment.’

The closing date for the current round is January 24, with another round later in the year.
