A group of Halls Head Croquet Club players have triumphed at the annual Geraldton Croquet Tournament.

More than 20 players representing seven WA clubs took part in the tournament, with Halls Head Croquet Club’s Sheila Twine taking out the Block A Golf Croquet Singles competition.

It wasn’t the only accolade for Twine, who along with David Smeeton finished second in the Golf Croquet Handicap Doubles.

Locals David Hunt, Jill Hunt and Chrstine Bunny also competed in the golf croquet tournament.

Halls Head Croquet Club has also recently introduced a new, short form version of the game dubbed 14/40 to attract more people into the sport.

The 14/40 format involves all players being on the court simultaneously for 40 minutes while running croquet balls through six hoops using simplified rules.

On July 29 the latest group of new players competed against each other, with David Hedges winning the gold medal, Marina Vergone the silver, and Kathy Grafton the Bronze.

The next six-week series of 14/40 will be held at Halls Head Croquet Club from August 12 at 1.30pm, with new players welcome.
