Kiwi Terenzo Bozzone dominated the men’s race, finishing almost two minutes faster than second place-getter Australia’s Tim Berkel.

Bozzone was the favourite to take out the Mandurah leg of the Ironman.

He was first out of the water, in a group of seven, which became six at the end of the bike leg.

Bozzone opened up his lead during the run leg, running to the finish 90 seconds ahead of Berkel and Sam Appleton running through 30 seconds after.

Women’s winner Hauschildt’s said the swim was the best she’d ever done, even though she left the water behind Radka Vodickova and Annabel Luxford.

Hauschildt caught up in the bike leg and took a one minute lead during the 21.1 km running leg.

She won in 4:03.45, with Luxford three minutes behind in second and Vodickova a further three minutes behind.
