Hockey: Halls Head teen picked for WA under-18 team

HALLS Head hockey player Marshall Puzey is set to be an integral part of the WA under-18 men’s team competing in the national championships in Hobart next week after scoring two goals and being among the team’s best players.

Puzey (18) was one of the standout players in a recent three-game series against the Northern Territory in Darwin, winning 3-0, to prepare for the national titles from April 19-29.

The WA team played in curtain-raiser games for the Kookaburras versus Pakistan tests.

Hockey WA’s high performance manager Jason Butcher said it had been a special experience for all involved and one that would live long in the memories of everyone involved.

“I am very proud of how these boys represented Hockey WA on this tour,” Butcher said.

“We made a lot of progress in a number of development areas and strengthened the bond and the understanding for everyone involved around what we stand for and our expectations.”

The WA team is going for a hat trick of national titles after winning the competition for the past two years.

It will also be Puzey’s third time representing WA in the event.
