Hundreds of athletes put skills to the test

In the series more than 60 beach volleyball teams (six a side) participated in more than 300 games, in teams of mens, womens, mixed and over 35s mens and womens, representing volleyball centres from across WA.

Overall winners on the day were Malaga and Canning Vale, with the best performing team from Mandurah being the over 35 womens team who are well on their way to being top four contenders again.

The Mandurah club has been invited to enter five teams in the Indoor Beach Volleyball National Titles, to be held in Fremantle in October. The Mandurah teams will represent WA in the mens, womens, mixed, over 35s and over 45s competitions. Players need to nominate before June 30.

The 2014 South West Indoor Cricket Challenge involved teams representing Mandurah, Busselton and Port Kennedy.

Each town entered two teams in separate divisions, with the top team from each division playing for the title of South West Champions.

The 18/18 competition resulted in some close games and hard work from each player. It came down to a recount to determine who would enter the grand finalwhich resulted in a Mandurah versus Mandurah showdown. Rusty Rhinos defeated the Raiders in a close call match to claim the title.
