Iron determination to compete in Mandurah triathlon

He decided to challenge himself and also raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

“Both my mum and mother-in-law were looked after by Cancer Macmillan nurses,” Mr Scriven said.

Mr Scriven’s training efforts were hindered because he got bronchitis last month.

As well as training, he is on a strict diet in the lead-up to the triathlon.

“I have never competed in an ironman or a triathlon,” Mr Scriven said.

“I have taught myself to swim in a reasonable time using the techniques on the plan.”
