MEADOW Springs resident Reg Scriven will be competing in the Ironman 70.3 Mandurah on November 8 in memory of his mother and mother-in-law, who passed away from cancer.
He decided to challenge himself and also raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
“Both my mum and mother-in-law were looked after by Cancer Macmillan nurses,” Mr Scriven said.
Mr Scriven’s training efforts were hindered because he got bronchitis last month.
As well as training, he is on a strict diet in the lead-up to the triathlon.
“I have never competed in an ironman or a triathlon,” Mr Scriven said.
“I have taught myself to swim in a reasonable time using the techniques on the plan.”
