MANDURAH open water swimming champion Rebekah Weller is helping young swimmers achieve their dreams.

The talented swimmer joined forces with Peel Aquatic swimmer Heidi Gstaettner (10) at the Swimming WA Open Water Series at Harvey Dam.

Heidi needed a chaperone to swim by her side, and she was thrilled to have Weller swim with her. Heidi came first in her 500m event and also won the U15 age group.

“I felt great in the water, and knowing Bek was right beside me really boosted my confidence,” Heidi said.

“She is an amazing swimmer, it was fantastic.”

Weller then won her 5km race in the women’s open category.

Weller is now turning her focus to the Australian National Championships in Adelaide this month and the Rottnest Channel Swim in February.

Heidi hopes to achieve a State lead in her age group this season.
