UP-AND-COMING chaser Mendoza Monelli marched to a commanding victory in the final of The Sandgroper (490m) at Mandurah Greyhounds last Friday.
The David Hobby-trained youngster began well to exit the traps on equal terms with Desert Rampage.
The pair matched motors down the back straight before Mendoza Monelli took control as they approached the corner.
Once he had captured the outright lead Mendoza Monelli then kicked away to put the issue beyond doubt.
He rattled home to score by nearly six lengths in 27.36 and claim the biggest success of his 14-start career.
Earlier in the evening the ageless phenomenon Thunder Rama racked up his 40th win at start 161 when he saluted in the Prime Trophies Open Masters (490m).
Thunder Rama took full toll of the rails alley to lead all the way and he crossed the line four lengths ahead of his nearest rival.
