Mandurah Pirates smash Bunbury by 83 points

MANDURAH Pirates stormed to a huge 88-5 win over Bunbury at Oakmont Reserve on Saturday.

Anton Paul crossed three times for the home side, while Martin Williams, Nolan Grace and Hohepa Mete grabbed a brace each.

Billy Patterson, Rheon McClelland, Gerard De Klerk, Logan Epiha and Kotahi Erueti all hit the board with a try each.

Andrew Taitoko was dead-eyed on the conversion, slotting nine on the way to a big 83-point win.

It was a closer contest in B Grade, with Mandurah winning 24-17 in a thriller.

The Pirates crossed first in the match and battled hard against a strong Bunbury side that eventually hit the front close to full time.

However, Mandurah’s Jacob Walker had other plans, running down the wing to help his side claim the win.

Jason Edwards, Matthew Smith, Dylan Lewis and Jezreel Kasuas also crossed for the home side, sending them second on the ladder.

The colts completed a perfect day for the Pirates, running over five times in a 33-24 win over UWA.

The top-of-the-table Students were behind the eight ball early as Mandurah ran out to a large lead in the first 10 minutes.

However, they recovered in the second half to tie up the scores and set up a fierce finish.

Mattehw Korok claimed a double while Cheyjohn Hatu, Terangiamoa Rapatini and Anton Paul all crossed in the nine-point victory.

Next up, the Championship A and B Grade travel to Edinburgh Oval to take on Curtin Uni this Saturday.

Bs will start at 1.50pm and A Grade at 2.45pm.

Meanwhile, the colts will enjoy a bye.
