Lara first picked up a hockey stick when she was in Year 1 and started umpiring juniors four years ago when she was just 12 years old.

Even though she loves playing hockey, Lara immediately knew that she wanted to be an official.

Lara completed the Community Umpiring course and then went on to become accredited as a Level 1 Umpire through Hockey WA.

Lara developed both her playing and umpiring skills at Peel Hockey Club and is currently playing and umpiring for Melville City Hockey Club. Last year Lara was selected onto the Hockey WA Elite Junior Umpiring Development program and was selected onto the Hockey WA Umpiring Panel this year.

She is now one of the youngest umpires to officiate Ladies Premiership games.

Lara said she loved being able to provide a safe and controlled environment for the game of hockey to be played.

Her goal is to travel to the Olympics with the Hockeyroos as their team umpire.
