A City spokesman said the journey the City had taken with Mandurah Ocean Club and Mandurah Triathlon Club had resulted in a great example of community clubs and local and State Government working together in partnership for great outcomes.

The City received $50,000 funding through the Department of Local Government, Sports and Cultural Industries from the Community Sport and Recreation Funding Program.

It contributed $60,000, with both clubs contributing significant funding of their own to complete their share of the project.

Mandurah Triathlon Club was established in 1988 and is celebrating its 30th year. The club has 150 dedicated athletes from a wide range of backgrounds living in the Peel and a rich history in running club and state series races.

To do this, it has acquired plenty of equipment including three trailers, timing equipment, bike racks, swim buoys, and water safety craft that must be stored as the old storage facility had reach capacity.
