Mandurah’s Kathryn Norris wins Jack Newton International Junior Classic

IN a week where it seemed impossible for 72 holes to be played due to the rain sweeping across NSW, Mandurah’s Kathryn Norris and fellow West Australian Hayden Hopewell emerged from gloomy skies to win the 2018 Jack Newton International Junior Classic.

For 17-year-old Norris, who has played in the event for five years, the event is the “best junior tournament” anywhere in the world.

Norris shot four straight under par rounds to run away with the tournament on Friday, October 5. She defeated Belinda Ji (Concord) by nine shots.

Norris made a birdie (her 16th of the tournament to go with an eagle as well) on the 18th green to finish with a final round 71.

She became the first girl to break par in all four rounds since the tournament moved to Cypress Lakes five years ago.
