Vanessa SchmittMandurah Coastal Times

MANDURAH seven-year-old Maverick Wilson claimed the under-8 parent assisted division at the Wahu Surfer Groms Comps on Sunday, November 8.

Despite a howling afternoon sea breeze and strong ocean currents, surfers battled hard in windswept conditions in hopes of clinching a win in the specialty event series designed specifically for the sports youngest micro-groms.

Wilson successfully linked together a series of powerful forehand turns with speed, power and flow to score a combined total of 14.20 (from a possible 20), which included a 7.37 and 6.83.
