PARTY Hotshot is the fastest qualifier for this Saturday’s Anniversary Cup final (490m) at Tabtouch Park Mandurah following an eye-catching run during last weekend’s heats.
In what was his first appearance on the Peel circuit, the lightly-raced black chaser from Ben Abercrombie’s kennels produced a brilliant come-from-behind effort to clock 27.36.
After a poor jump where he was left lingering at the traps while Burundi fired out to an early break, Party Hotshot recovered quickly and pushed forward along the rail.
He gobbled up Burundi on the home straight and surged away to score in dominant fashion by three lengths.
Group two All Stars Sprint winner Tureaud secured his place in the final with a comfortable win during his heat.
Tureaud led all the way to win by nearly six lengths in 27.48 and will be a big chance in the final from box one.
The other heat winners were Bold Intention (27.67) and Fun Boss (27.45).
The field for the Anniversary Cup: 1. Tureaud 2. Fun Boss 3. Thunder Rama 4. Stangafied 5. Party Hotshot 6. Nero Bolt 7. Crashing Packs 8. Bold Intention.
