IRONMAN and world champion para-triathlete Brant Garvey will be one of a host of guest speakers talking about the impact sport can have at the fourth annual Peel Sports Forum on March 24.

Garvey will demonstrate how his No Excuses mindset has led to his success and how to incorporate that into everyday life at the free event being held at the Mandurah Offshore Fishing and Sailing Club.

Paralympian Brad Scott will talk about how mental strength can help people achieve more and champion hurdler Lyn Foreman will talk about preparing to play and how to reach peak performance.

Department of Sport and Recreation regional manager Troy Jones said local athletes, coaches and administrators would benefit from attending the forum.

“This event continues to be a great opportunity for the sporting industry to learn from some of Australia’s most talented sportspeople,” Jones said.

Sports television and radio commentator Mark Readings will quiz some of the Peel and South-West’s top coaches on how to bring out the best in athletes and what they did to get where they are.

“Delegates have a variety of topics to choose from to satisfy their interests,” Jones said.

“After feedback last year, we’ve included topics of a strategic nature for local government and the sporting industry.”

Administrators can listen to a communications specialist outline media strategies for clubs or how to develop leadership skills by negotiating with influence.

Local government and industry representatives can be challenged to deliver sports differently or join Communicare in understanding how migration patterns provide new opportunities for sporting communities.

Officials can learn how to react and respond positively to negative behaviour, while clubs can discover strategies to respond to abusive behaviour.
