Shepherd said Merrett had played 56 games for Essendon.

“He is an elite hard-running wingman,” he said.

“He is an outstanding individual who will be a real feather in the cap for the club.”

Ben Harding (21) moves to Peel this season from East Fremantle.

“I can’t wait to take some opportunities to play some footy with the boys,” Harding said.

Shepherd said Harding had played 11 league games.

“He’s a hard-running inside mid’,” he said.

“We expect him to continue developing his good form.”

Matt Bogensperger will join Peel Thunder after playing for Subiaco.

Shepherd said Bogensperger had played 10 league games.

“He’s joined with a wonderful attitude,” Shepherd said.

“He’s unarguably fit and strong and will be a real asset.”

Ryan Bennell (19) used to play in Bunbury for Carey Park.

“He’s a top-end talent,” Shepherd said.

“He has a good attitude and has been training well.

“We have high hopes for him.”
