LOCAL racing clubs have helped raise funds for not-for-profit organisations.

Community TAB has been partnering with WA race clubs since February 2015 , which has resulted in a fundraising total of $143,881, which Community TAB has doubled along the way, bringing the figure to over $280,000.

Clubs involved include Pinjarra Race Club, which raised funds for the South Yunderup and Ravenswood Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade and Pinjarra Fire and Volunteer Rescue Service through the Pinjarra Cup and Pinjarra Classic;

Pinjarra Harness Racing Club which contributed to Riding for the Disabled and the Lions Club through the Pinjarra Pacing Cup Day and Mandurah Greyhounds, which helped, raise funds for Pat Thomas House through the Mandurah Cup.

In the program, Community TAB asks every WA race club to choose a not-for-profit organisation in their community.

It then offers them the platform to fundraise at their major race day and Community TAB matches the funds raised to a maximum of $5000 or $2000 depending on the size of the club.

Community TAB is an initiative by Racing and Wagering WA (RWWA) to give back to the community through various initiatives and industries.

RWWA chief executive Richard Burt said almost all WA’s 52 race clubs had taken part in the program over the past two years.
