The result turned the tables from the previous week when Pedro’s Finest was edged out by Magpie Bob during their heat.
Magpie Bob was sent out in the final as the $1.90 favourite, but was beaten to the early lead by the fast jumping Pedro’s Finest and from that point onwards he could never find a way to get ahead.
Once he’d obtained the front running position, Pedro’s Finest was hard to dislodge and despite constant pressure from Magpie Bob he rolled on to score by a length in 36.82.
The victory was the 33rd recorded by Pedro’s Finest from 114 career starts.
The November 2008 whelping has now banked over $157,945 in stakemoney and he continues to perform at a high level despite being at an age when most racedogs have long since retired.
