Rugby Union: Mandurah Pirates continues march up table with win over Curtin Uni

MANDURAH Pirates have moved to third on the ladder after accounting for Curtin Uni 16-3 on Saturday.

The teams could not have been more evenly matched in the first half, which showed on the scoreboard as the teams went into the break level pegging.

However, Mandurah put its foot down after halftime, overcoming the Curtin defence to run away 13-point victors.

Left-winger Hohepa Mete grabbed both of Mandurah’s tries, extending the side’s unbeaten run to three matches.

In the Championship B grade fixture also against Curtin, Mandurah continued its undefeated run claiming the tight contest 12-8 to go second on the ladder.

Brad Crannage and Dylan Lewis both crossed the line for the Pirates in the narrow four-point win.

The Colts team enjoyed the bye in round four.

Championship A and B grade will travel to Leschenault Reserve in Australind to take on Bunbury, while Colts will travel to Allen Park to take on Associates, with a win keeping them within touching distance of league leaders Palmyra.
