Sixty four croquet players converge on Halls Head for spring carnival

SIXTY four players from Metro and country clubs converged on Halls Head Croquet Club for three days of fiercely fought competition at the Spring Carnival.

Teams from Narrogin, Bunbury, Dunsborough, Sorrento, Como, Nedlands, Fremantle, Mandurah and Gosnells competed in the annual event.

Australia Croquet Association chairman Megan Fardon presented prizes to winners from Como, Gosnells, Bunbury and Halls Head and praised the club’s new development including improved lawns, colourful native gardens, storage sheds and limestone walls.

Winners: Saturday – Max Woolf and Bob Bowling (Moorabinda), Elizabeth and Max Petrich (Como);

Sunday – golf croquet, Jock Fyfe (Halls Head), David Squires (Bunbury), Jasmine Leggatt (Halls Head) and Peter Pakaar (Gosnells);

Monday – ricochet croquet, Kath Caris and Beryl Twigger (Halls Head).
