The opening heat provided the first shock of the series as $14.70 chance Moodich was able to hold out the more fancied Merlot Monelli. The pair staged a two-dog battle throughout the race, but Moodich always had the advantage and the Kevin Foxton-trained black dog was able to cling on to score by a head in 27.65.

In heat two, former NSW chaser Tricky Knox recorded his first win in WA.

Tricky Knox took full toll of the rails alley to lead all the way and finish more than four lengths in front of Jack O’Riley.

Knight Fun started fifth on the line of betting in heat three but belied the odds with a comfortable victory.

The speedy greyhound from Lexia Issac’s kennels took control of the race midway down the back straight and never looked in doubt from that point onwards – as he went on to win in 27.67.

In the final heat, Set Sail South came from mid-field to surge past the leading Special Pup to claim the race in 27.61 and give Linda Britton a representative in the final.
