The win cemented Sveta Monelli’s splendid record on the Peel circuit, where she has seven wins and five seconds from 13 attempts.

Last year’s Mandurah track-star Buddy Be Cool proved he is no spent force, after he qualified for the race he won last year, claiming his heat in 22.57sec.

Special Maestro conceded the early advantage to the other two chasers, but came from behind in the home straight with a late surge that carried him to victory by a head in 22.47sec.
