Gold medal-winning hockey coach and former high performance manager of the New Zealand cricket team Ric Charlesworth will attend, as will swimming marathon champion Shelley Taylor-Smith and former state cricket coach Wayne Clark.
Presented by the Department of Sport and Recreation, with support from the Peel Regional Academy of Sports, City of Mandurah, Shire of Murray and Shire of Serpentine-Jarrahdale, the Peel Sports Forum provides free personal and professional development for athletes, coaches, administrators and officials.
Department of Sport and Recreation’s regional manager Troy Jones said that the event was a valuable one for anyone who was involved in sport.
“This is a great opportunity for the Western Australian sporting industry to learn from some of Australia’s most talented coaches, and past and present sportspeople,” he said.
“The forum is in its third year and its reputation as one of Western Australia’s premier sporting conferences continues to grow.”
“We already have several State Sporting Associations attending, plus clubs from the Metro, Peel and South-West regions.”
Delegates have a variety of topics to choose from including creating champion teams, women in sport, creating pathways for kids and an overview of programs and services on offer at the Western Australian Institute of Sport.
Athletes, officials, administrators and coaches are invited to register.
Registrations are open until February 16 and can be made online at www.dsr.wa.gov.au.
