Sporting wishes granted

Mr Gray said the 10 athletes represented their chosen sports at various competitions around the country over the past few months, including taekwondo, cycling, baseball, tenpin bowling, athletics, rugby, archery and lacrosse.

Riley Jenskinson, of Meadow Springs, received a grant for cycling.

"These grants, which equate to $500 for each recipient, go some way towards helping families meet the cost of sending their children to interstate competitions," Mr Gray said.

"While it won't cover the full costs, it will help with things like additional luggage charges, phone calls, transport and equipment. Families have enough to worry about with cost of living so shouldn't have to worry about whether or not they can support their child's sporting dream."

Mr Gray urged people to apply for the grants via the cities of Rockingham, Mandurah and Kwinana.
