The strong running chaser from James Jefferies' kennel looked like he hadn't missed a beat following more than three months away from racing as he overcame the lemon, box five, and the in-form Armani to get the cash.

Stanga Doug jumped fairly to land midfield at box rise, but quickly found top gear.

Armani, which had won his previous three starts and came into the race undefeated on this surface, launched well to cross from box eight and he momentarily held the lead down the back straight before Stanga Doug burnt him off.

Once clear, Stanga Doug kicked away and powered to the finish line to score by more than four lengths in 22.75.

Stanga Doug has now saluted in 11 of 33 starts although his recent form is considerably better with four wins from his past five starts.
