Strong wind hampers riders

The closed course proved a popular venue for junior racers with 11 starters in their two-lap race, but some racers finished early.

Madison Mcauliffe claimed line honours before backing up to race in E grade. Eilidh Milne finished second and Kayla Dawson third.

The small E grade field was blown apart by the wind, with Anita Watters and Ashton Sime at the front leaving the other riders chasing individually.

A well-timed attack on the last lap saw Milne take the win from Watters with Callum Milne third.

D grade stayed together until the last lap when three riders got free.

Matthew Connan took the win, with Nicholas Connan second and Dharlia Haines third.

Halfway through their 40-minute race, the C grade bunch split.

For the next couple of laps, very little separated the two groups, but when the riders in the front group started working together, they increased their lead and stayed away.

In a small bunch sprint it was Richard Ramos first, Luke Colum second and Riley Jenkinson third.

After 15 minutes of attacking in B grade, a four-rider breakaway formed.

The four worked well together and kept increasing their lead before Jordan Dawson found the strength to ride away to claim the win. Mark Matear was second and Zade Zulsdorf third.

A grade saw Henry Pennell get a break early and develop a solid lead.

The pursuing bunch did not panic and suddenly Pennell was back in the bunch.

Then four strong riders – Theo Yates, Conor Leahy, Wade Longworth and Logan Calder – got free.

This time, the bunch behind exploded while chasing, leaving small groups of riders spread around the course.

In the end Yates took the win, with Leahy second and Longworth third.
