Tennis: Frederick Irwin student Mellor on the up and up in tennis world

MANDURAH 14-year-old Rachel Mellor is well on her way to fulfilling her dream of becoming a professional tennis player.

The Frederick Irwin Anglican student won the 14-year-old singles category at a tennis tournament in Busselton.

She came away from the Busselton competition with four trophies.

Other achievements for Rachel include winning a doubles tournament on a consolation tour, becoming a finalist at a tournament in Dalkeith and carrying the flag for Roger Federer.

The talented player started tennis lessons when she was seven-years-old.

She trains four to five times a week at the State Tennis Centre Academy at Burswood.
