Driven by Shane Young for his brother David, Conquer All found the front after 400m and then kicked away from his rivals on the home bend.

Though he only won by three quarters of a length, he did it easily and had something up his sleeve at the finish.

‘He has been a temperamental horse in his time,’ Young said.

‘If I were honest, the plan was to go back at the start from barrier 6, but he didn’t want to so we went forward.

‘All distances seem to suit him, he is in good form.’

Since coming to WA from Victoria, he has had 29 starts for six wins and eight placings.

A total of $6.5 million will be distributed during the months of November, December and January.

Highlights of the carnival will be the $50,000 Retravision Four-Year-Old Championship, the $125,000 McInerney Four-Year-Old Classic, $175,000 Lancaster Park Golden Nugget, the $100,000 Mares Classic, $40,000 Norms Daughter Classic, $250,000 Yes Loans Fremantle Cup and $400,000 Nepean Conveyors WA Pacing Cup.

Already the dual Breeders Crown winner Bit Of A Legend, Bettor Cover Lover, high quality four-year-old Nowitzki, Chilli Palmer and Macha are in WA to do battle for WA riches.

Hockey stars Adam Commens, Anna Flanagan, 6PR Breakfast host Steve Mills and Michael Brennan are carnival ambassadors.

Brennan said that having a champion like Im Victorious makes it easy to get up in the morning.

As Gary Hall Sr’s stable foreman for five years until branching out on his own in March, Brennan built a close affinity with the State’s best pacer Im Themightyquinn and the attachment is still there.

‘When we beat Quinnie the other night it brought about raw emotion,’ he said.

‘There is nothing in harness racing like watching Im Themightyquinn taking off from the rear of the field 600m from home and covering the field within 200m.

‘Beating him was a very grounding experience.’

Nowitzki’s trainer Daniel Jack said he had not come to WA for nothing.

‘We’ve come to pick up a fair portion of the four-year-old prize money,’ he said.

‘We are not here to run second though now that Bit Of A Legend is here we might have our task cut out for us.’
