Two local swimmers to represent WA at the nationals this week

TWO local swimmers will be representing WA in Tasmania this week.

Ava Latter (13), of Ravenswood, will be competing in the 50m, 100m and 200m breastroke and the relay.

The Pinjarra Senior High School student trains 18 hours a week with Peel Aquatic Swimming Club.

She has only been swimming for three years and will be competing in the 14-year-old category.

Sean Alcorn (11), of Madora Bay, will be competing in the butterfly and freestyle.

He has only been swimming for a year with Mandurah Swimming Club, but impressed when he won silver at the State championships.

The Assumption Catholic Primary School student has developed his swimming skills since he joined the Mandurah Triathlon Club when he was seven years old.

He trains about five hours a week.

Sean wants to be a professional swimmer and his goal is to compete in the Commonwealth Games and Olympics.

The School Sport WA Swimming Team will compete at the School Sport Australia Swimming Championships in Hobart from July 24 to 31.
