WAFL: Peel Thunder starts pre-season by thumping Perth

PEEL Thunder started its pre-season competition with a thumping 108 point win against Perth 21.16 (142) to 5.4 (34).

Brayden Lawler, Brad McGowan and Gerald Ugle all top-scored with four goals each.

The Peel Senior Development side also notched up a win against the Demons in a closer contest, 11.1 (67) to 8.9 (57).

Football manager Andrew McBean thanked supporters who turned up to watch the teams in action.

“It was a solid start to the season and everyone was excited to finally play,” he said.

The club has also announced its leadership team for 2017 with Gerald Ugle named as the senior team’s club captain, with Corey Morris and Blair Bell vice-captains.

Also in the leadership group are Brad Walsh and Ben Hancock and group mentors are Rory O’Brien and Leroy Jetta.

The colts captain is Jakeb Shine, vice-captain Jordan Boullineau and deputy vice-captains Brandon Penny, Lachlan Riley, Damon Cramer and James Fenton.

The next pre-season game against West Perth is at Bendigo Bank Stadium on Saturday.
