‘There is a lot of hard work to do and I am really looking forward to doing more training.

‘I hope to compete in more fights so I can keep improving. I am dedicated to getting better and one day I would love to compete at the Olympics.’

Winwood said he was training about four times a week at Eureka Boxing Club in Silver Sands.

Trainer Brian Sartori said Winwood was a ‘special talent’.

‘He coped really well in Scarborough and was not overawed by stepping into the ring,’ he said.

‘Alex is a hard worker. He has speed and power for his size.

‘He is a thinker in the ring, which he can use to his advantage.’

Sartori believed more experience in the ring would hasten Winwood’s development.

‘We hope to get Alex a few more fights before the end of the year,’ he said. ‘More sparring will also help.’

A re-match is expected between Winwood and Frost in the near future.
