In January, Mellor won the U/11 division of the WA Nick Bollettieri Discovery Event in Perth.

Before the event, Mellor attended a five-day Bollettieri training clinic in Melbourne from March 31 to April 4.

More than 30 juniors attended from across Australia, including five from WA.

During the clinic, Mellor won a draw for a one-week scholarship in September to the world-renowned Nick Bollettieri coaching academy in Florida.

Academy alumni include Andre Agassi, Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova.

Mellor is a protegee of the South Mandurah Tennis Club coach Lesley Hunt, herself a past Australian junior champion and a world number seven ranked player.

‘Mellor is at the beginning of her career and has the potential to become a professional tennis player of the future,’ Hunt said.
