We were led to our table, right by the entrance to the intimately lit alfresco area, which looked perfect for a romantic evening.

For entree, we chose an old standard; vegetable spring rolls, which were beautifully crisp.

I then ordered one of the signature dishes ” the Thai Emperor’s Chicken, soft and tender roast chicken on the bone in a special homemade sauce.

My dining partner was lucky enough to come into possession of Kon Chin Fah Lam, or crispy pork belly.

The pork belly was lightly crumbed and fried, creating an exquisite and tangy flavour.

This item is not yet on the menu, but it is already a popular order.

Cafe Somerville describes itself as ‘traditional Asian cuisine with an innovative modern twist’.

This was evident in the experimentation with, and mixture of different flavours, in the chicken and pork.

One satisfied customer sitting across from us told everyone within earshot to try the Kapitan fish.

He too, also praised the beautifully cooked produce and its flavour.

A wide range of drinks is available including Asian coffees and tea, and a variety of reasonably priced alcohol.

The vibe is relaxed and comfortable, and parking was ample.

Cafe Somerville is also open for takeaways.
