Smallgoods company in line for bacon award

O’CONNOR smallgoods manufacturer Mondo Doro is looking to bring home the bacon.

The company is among 139 entrants, including 15 WA competitors, in the Australian PorkMark Bacon Awards.

National and state winners will be announced on International Bacon Day, held on August 31.

Judges will look at the taste, appearance, aroma as well as the lean to fat ratio in both raw and cooked form.

Mondo Doro sales manager Adrian Rapanaro the best bacon included the right fat content and combination of salt and brine.

“It would be really good if we could win because it’s a reward for the effort put in by our stuff,” he said.

“We’ve been successful in various awards before such as the Perth Royal Food Awards.”
