Aaron CorlettMelville Gazette

AN increase in the popularity of activewear has seen HyperLuxe open a bigger store in Applecross.

The Sharpless family-owned store is just down the road from the old store on Ardross Street and is about three times bigger.

Jenny, Madi and Cassie Sharpless are excited to open the store, which compliments their outlets in North Beach and Dunsborough.

Jenny Sharpless said she believed the popularity of activewear came from the comfortable nature of the clothes plus the way it allowed the wearer to do different activities such as running or yoga.

“It feels good to wear at the gym or at a cafe,” she said.

“I think going to the gym or yoga and then grabbing a coffee goes hand in hand but I know plenty of people who put it on in the morning and never go to the gym.

“The health aspect is huge too, there’s a lot of people who are thinking about their health a lot more.”

Mrs Sharpless said popular styles and colours depended on the season but black was popular in winter.

“We like some brighter colours that not everyone will like,” she said.

“In terms of the style, we have extra small to whatever the brand goes up to.

“At the moment, lots of women have told us they don’t want that see through factor when they put on their leggings.”

Mrs Sharpless said she was excited to open the new store.

“We started just for fun and because it was something we could do together plus we love activewear,” she said.
