PERTH’S annual premiere fashion fundraiser STYLEAID is on again and will be the first event to showcase the spring/summer collections of WA designers.

Now in its 16th year, the uber-glamourous charity event has raised more than $1m for the WA AIDS Council.

This year’s theme is Connect; connect with audience, connect with fashion, connect with culture, connect with charity, connect with media, connect with stories and connect with people.

TV presenter and former Miss Universe Australia, Laura Dondovic, and her partner, author and presenter James Kerley, will host the evening, which will have performances from WA Ballet and WA Opera.

More than 500 volunteers will participate, including 75 top Perth models who will showcase the creations of WA’s best local designers.

Collections featured during the parade will include Zsadar, Dilettante and One Fell Swoop.

Zsadar pushes boundaries by challenging aesthetic interpretations of traditional menswear.

Launched in 2010, each collection is inspired by subversion, minimalism and the connotations subcultures impose on the human mindset.

Solemn tall silhouettes comprise razor sharp tailoring with clean expressive structures contrasted by voluminous, naturally draped shapes and all garments are proudly Australian-made.

Dilettante translates to an admirer or lover of the arts and this is evident within the Perth boutique of the same name.

Opening in 2007, the label combines fashion as art with ever-changing installations, to create a space that transcends a store and becomes a gallery of contemporary style.

One Fell Swoop does not believe in a specific inspiration for a collection and instead draw from a wide range of cultures and references to create modern, avant-garde pieces work experiments with volume, form, shape and fabric.

STYLEAID 2013 is on at the Grand Ballroom, Crown Perth on August 9.
