President Irene Wright described the orchestra as fun, vibrant and innovative and said she would be particularly interested in hearing from violin and other strings players, but all inquiries were welcome.
“Our slogan ‘A place to make friends and make music’ states the orchestra’s aim to be more than a musical ensemble,” she said.
“Regular social events are organised and our rehearsals are supportive, fun and enjoyable.”
Mrs Wright said the South Side Symphony Orchestra was perfect for lapsed amateur musicians or recently graduated high school or university students looking for opportunities to play.
Members range in age from 16 to 75 and are required to play to a Grade 5 Australian Music Examinations Board standard.
Rehearsals are held at the Kadidjiny Community Hall in Melville on Wednesday evenings beginning at 7.30pm.
