THE Duke of York, Prince Andrew, met some of WA’s brightest tech entrepreneurs today at Murdoch University.

Sixteen entrepreneurs and early stage businesses were selected to compete in the Pitch@Palace On Tour Perth event, where they had just three minutes to amplify their ideas to potential partners, funders and mentors, as well as the Prince.

Eight winners will be invited by a judging panel to join other successful pitchers from similar events around Australia at the Pitch@Palace Boot Camp on 28 November and the Pitch@Palace Australia 2.0 final on 30 November, both in Brisbane.

The ultimate winners will go through to a global final at St James Palace, London in December.

Murdoch Vice Chancellor Eeva Leinonen said Murdoch nurtured and supported entrepreneurial staff, students and alumni, which is why it welcomed the Prince’s Pitch@Palace initiative onto campus.

“Murdoch is committed to building partnerships and connections with industry and the community – the Pitch@Palace event is a great platform from which to do this,” Professor Leinonen said.

The Duke also met Murdoch leaders, researchers, academics and students who utilise technology to enhance their learning.
