Agriculture scholarship opens new horizon for Leeming university student

LEEMING university student Holly Chandler is one of 15 to be given a scholarship, which she has put towards her agri-business studies.

The Horizon Scholarships are offered by the Rural Industries Research and Development Corporation in partnership with industry sponsors.

Miss Chandler was sponsored by the Cotton Research and Development Corporation and will receive $5000 a year towards to costs associated with studying an agriculture-related university degree, plus access to professional development opportunities including workshops and work placements.

Miss Chandler said she had holidayed on farms owned by close family friends and built a passion for working the land.

“My goal is to develop and change anything I possibly can to make a sustainable future,” she said.

Miss Chandler said this included personal lifestyle changes, from reducing her time in the car to buying kangaroo meat.
