Alfred Cove: Closet Co sees sisters sell pre-loved designer clothing

Bryce LuffMelville Gazette

THREE Perth sisters who turned the idea of clothes sharing into their own small business will run a pre-loved designer and high-end clothing sale in Alfred Cove on Sunday.

The Closet Co was formed when Katie Hopkins and younger sisters Rachel and Ashley realised how often they would borrow clothes from each other and how common it was to spend money on new pieces they went on to wear only once.

“We decided to do the ‘shared wardrobe’ on a larger scale,” Katie said.

“It started with putting the idea to friends – would they let other people borrow their items for a fee – and then expanded to the public.”

The trio now have a closet stocked with more than 400 dresses for a range of occasions, all owned by other ladies in Perth.

On Sunday, the sisters will run a Market Day at the Melville Bowls Club where they will be selling second-hand designer and high-end clothing. Some of the pieces have featured in their catalogue of rentable items but most have not.

The sisters are still taking registrations from people keen to sell clothing on the day.

“It’s basically Sunday markets without the hassle of a 5am start,” Katie said.

“We have already received lots of items for the sale but we are still happy to take on more clothes.”
