MEMBERS of the Applecross community came together over good food and wine to raise money for Mission Australia’s Christmas Lunch in the Park event.

The Applecross Progressive Christmas Dinner took place on Tuesday with 100 people helping to raise $15,000.

The attendees enjoyed canapes from Cheeky Boy, a long-table dinner at Gucce and desserts and cheese at Nic and Kolo.

Event organiser and 3 Drops winery owner Joanne Bradbury said dinners had been held in the past but they wanted to involve a charity.

“We had 100 people come along, we had to limit it to that and we managed to raise $15,000, which is a great feeling,” she said.

“Janette Drysdale had her painting of the Applecross Jetty auctioned off by Terry Creasey.

“The atmosphere was very fun, each of the restaurants put their own slant on the evening.”

Mission Australia State Director WA Jo Sadler said the dinner was a wonderful event.

“It was a demonstration of the community spirit, coming together for a purpose,” she said.

“The Christmas Lunch in the Park event helps the people of Perth who are vulnerable, it gives people with no other family the opportunity to come together.

“I’d like to thank the community, the organisers and the businesses for their help.”
