Applecross: man uses umbrella in attempted bank robbery

A MAN has used an open umbrella to shield his identity during an attempted bank robbery in Applecross on Friday.

Thankfully an alert teller rained on his parade.

Just after midday, a man entered a bank on Riseley Street.

Using an open umbrella to conceal his face, he approached a teller stating this was a robbery.

The teller was able to activate the alarms and the man fled the bank on foot and was last seen on Riseley Street.

The man is described as being in his 30s, light skinned, with a medium to solid build and approximately 185cms tall.

He was wearing a light coloured jacket, dark pants and light coloured shoes.

Detectives are urging anyone who saw the man, or who was driving along Riseley Street during this time and has dash-cam vision of the street to contact police.
