A BICTON pharmacy has been named a finalist for May’s Guild Pharmacy of the Year Awards.

Gerald Burns Pharmacy, based at Hawaiian’s Melville on Canning Highway, is up against a Busselton-based pharmacy and three more from interstate for top honours.

The awards recognise excellence across three areas – business management, community engagement and professional innovation – with category winners put into the running for the evening’s top gong – the Pharmacy of the Year.

Pharmacy Guild of Australia national councillor Nick Panayiaris said a feature of the awards was seeing how pharmacies continued to adapt, transform and evolve as the industry changed.

“This year is no exception and these finalists provided a new benchmark for many other pharmacies to look up to,” he said.

“This year’s finalists continued to reinforce the need to be community health hubs and they have adapted and innovated to be central to all the health needs of the communities they serve.”

Winners will be announced at the Australian Pharmacy Professional conference, held on the Gold coast from May 3 to 6.
