Clinical midwife Rowena Davies said the new family birth centre would provide women access to midwifery-led care through their antenatal, labour, birth and postnatal periods, which was currently not offered south of the river.
“If women are interested in having an active, physiological birth with the support of the same midwife through the process, this is the right service for them,” she said.
“We are so excited to open our doors later this year and start meeting all the new mums.”
The centre will feature three birthing suites, two with inbuilt birthing pools and the other a portable pool, specially designed birthing cubes, day beds, birthing silks and family lounge facilities.
Self-referrals can be made by phoning 6152 9416 or emailing Fsh.FamilyBirthingCentre@health.wa.gov.au or a GP referral to FSH maternity requesting the Family Birthing Centre.
