Braemar Presbyterian Care Cooinda resident to celebrate 100th birthday with family and friends

A WILLAGEE resident is about to join the century club.

Gladys Canning will celebrate her 100th birthday on Sunday, surrounded by family and friends.

Mrs Canning was born in Melbourne and moved to WA when she was seven years old.

Her family settled in Bunbury where her father worked in the timber industry.

She married her husband John, who she met while on holiday, soon after World War II.

The pair had two children – Loraine and John.

Mrs Canning now has two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The Braemar Presbyterian Care’s Cooinda resident remains busy, attending morning exercises and enjoying indoor games including bocce, and is known for her caring heart and healthy sense of humour.

Braemar chief executive Wayne Belcher wished Mrs Canning a happy birthday, saying the milestone 100 was a significant achievement.
