STAFF at Clancy’s Fish Pub in Canning Bridge are celebrating now that the venue is “old enough to drink”.

Current and former staff will join with pub-goers to salute its 18th anniversary during a celebration on July 14.

Pub spokesman Tom Fisher said when the venue opened, it was intended to be a niche place that people could come to and eat, drink and enjoy live music.

“It started off as the little brother of our Fremantle venue, it was our first foray into somewhere else,” he said.

“It was a little different because it wasn’t a destination place like Fremantle.

“We have nicknamed the place ‘the quiet achiever’ because it has a great atmosphere.”

Mr Fisher said while they had planned out various events during the year, the July celebration was the biggest.

“There will be a reunion of staff, some of whom have nearly been here the whole time,” he said.

“There will be lots of music, local beers and everyone is invited.

“It will be lots of fun and in our promotional material we have photoshopped the venue mangers’ heads onto Eminem and Fred Durst from Limp Bizkit because they were popular when the venue opened.”
