APPLECROSS resident Dawn Currie and her husband Michael travelled to Uganda in September to visit their sponsor child Viccencia.
Ms Currie has been sponsoring children for 21 years through World Vision Australia and used her 50th birthday as an opportunity to travel to Africa.
“The children were so happy and made us feel so welcome. It was clearly a big day for everyone and it shows us how much our support means to them,” Ms Currie said.
The couple got to meet Viccencia’s family and saw where she lived.
They took some pens, rulers and a clock to give to the school.
“They were so excited and clapped and cheered. We thought to ourselves ‘but it’s just a clock’. It’s amazing what we take for granted,” Ms Currie said.
World Vision is offering a World Vision Gift guide this Christmas.
