Carjacking and burglary arrests in Applecross

Police say that about noon, two people broke into a house on Canning Highway in Applecross, and ran away when disturbed by someone coming home.

A short time later, a man parked at the rugby club on Dunkley Avenue was threatened by someone holding a gun.

He was ordered from the |vehicle and the car was driven off, crashing about 100m down the road into a tree on Cunningham Road. Police will further allege that two males then joined up again and ran to a nearby house.

One of them entered the home and allegedly pointed a firearm at a man in the house, in front of his wife and young child.

He then demanded the keys to the man’s car and reversed it through a garage door, before picking up the other man outside and driving off along Canning Highway.

Later that afternoon, a 16-year-old boy from South Lake and a 19-year-old man from White Gum Valley were arrested at a motel on Canning Highway in Applecross.

Police say a gun was also found in a room.

The man was charged with two counts of aggravated burglary, stealing, aggravated armed robbery and the boy was charged with two counts of aggravated burglary, stealing, and two counts of aggravated armed robbery.
