The grants will go towards providing each chorus member with shoes and a shirt with the group’s logo embroidered on it.

A Cappella West is a women’s barbershop chorus with about 100 members from many different cultural backgrounds, ranging in age from 22 to late 70s.

Team co-ordinator Linda Wilson said the group was excited to showcase its new uniforms at the Sweet Adelines International World Championship in Las Vegas in October.

“Last year we won the Australian Championships, which means we qualified to represent Australia in the World Championships,” she said. “Around 85 members have committed to making the trip over to the US and we’re doing various fundraising activities to assist members to offset some of the cost.”
