THE City of Melville has introduced a new electronic option for parking payments aimed at reducing hassle for motorists.

Melville Mayor Russell Aubrey said the parking by phone service, provided by EasyPark, offered motorists a fast and flexible way to pay for parking.

“The best thing about EasyPark is that you only pay for your expected parking duration by setting it and then stopping it when you return to your vehicle,” he said.

“Simply download the app and register, park your vehicle, enter the EasyPark area code found on the side of the parking machine and select your parking time. You can extend or stop your parking on the go to suit your schedule.

“There is no need to carry coins and cards or worry about lost tickets. This app is like having your own parking meter on your phone.

“You only pay for parking you use and you also get a reminder when your parking session is about to expire.”

EasyPark is used in other councils and businesses throughout Australia and abroad.

Motorists can also use the app in other participating areas, such as the cities of Vincent, Subiaco and South Perth.

All other parking methods are still available.
